The Ducati ‘Ram’ started with the concept of making a one-piece, aluminum tank/seat/air intake unit. Using the oem intake ‘manifolds’ I made a, airbag and gas tank lower half, before starting on the tank upper, air ducts and finally seat and tail cowling. all hand formed aluminum sheet metal ranging in thickness from .100” down to .065”.
The subframe got chopped off, I made a new rear section and welded in some perforated steel to conceal the rear electronics area, where the Motogadget M-Unit Blue is housed. With keyless-go, this pdm-style unit with bluetooth, enables the rider to just use a cell phone as a ‘fob’ for running the bike.
The Engine had a bit of a makeover, new timing belts, bearings/tensioners, clutch, side covers were powder coated and new oil seals and gaskets all around. The stainless exhaust system I designed with some inspiration from modern GP bikes with offset mufflers. The system is fully hand cut, brushed, tig welded and back purged.
With a relatively tight budget I retained the gem, handlebars and switches, which have all been modified to momentary to work with the m-unit blue. The headlight is a Rigid Industries high-low unit, turn signals and brake lights are small but very bright led units, and the speedo is a Motogadget Motoscope Mini.
There are many small handmade bits and pieces like the fender and exhaust brackets and rear splash guard.
As always, this one is for sale, email or hit the contact form for more info.
